- Thierer Receives Child Safety Award
In December, Senior Fellow Adam Thierer received the Family Online Safety Institute Award for Outstanding Achievement for his special report, "Parental Controls & Online Child Protection: A Survey of Tools and Methods." The Institute credits Thierer's book with influencing how companies and regulators approach Internet safety and parental controls.
- Ferree to Speak at PLI's Cable Television Law Conference
PFF President Ken Ferree has been invited to speak January 26th at "Cable Television Law 2009: Competition in Video, Internet & Telephony," a conference sponsored by the Practising Law Institute. Ferree is scheduled to discuss "Federal Regulation of Multichannel Video in a Competitive Environment." More information on the conference, to be held January 26th and 27th in New York City, is available on their website.
- Sydnor Discusses "Making Available" at Property Rights Alliance Meeting
Last month, Senior Fellow Tom Sydnor spoke at the Property Rights Hill Working Group, organized by the Property Rights Alliance. Sydnor discussed copyright law and the "making-available" right. In related news, Sydnor participated in a subsequent "Emerging Issues in IP" roundtable, organized by the Global Intellectual Property Center at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
