For almost 15 years the Progress & Freedom Foundation has studied the digital economy, which we believe is the key driver of American productivity and wealth. But today, from Chinese chip factories to Indian software coders to fiber-optic finance, the digital economy has gone global.
Without precedent, America in the coming decades will face the prospect of large capitalist nations challenging its longstanding economic and technological hegemony. Will we retreat from the global economy? Or will we confidently exploit the opportunities of a freer world and find ways to protect commerce and prosperity? Foundation Fellows study such issues as trade, monetary policy, and other factors that influence the global digital economy.
