Our study of the digital revolution does not stop at the edges of the federal government. States, counties and municipalities are increasingly engaged in the development of public policy that affects heavily networked industries as well as the distributed computing and communications networks prevalent in America today.
Through its studies, books and conferences, The Progress & Freedom Foundation has looked outside of Washington, D.C. for nearly a decade. In 2001, the foundation launched a formal program of activities called the Digital Policy Network to coordinate and enhance state-based studies of digital policy. The DPN is based in Raleigh, North Carolina and collaborates with state policymakers and policy institutions around the nation.
